JFT booth, Bon-odori, and special Sunday library/gallery opening

On Sunday, August 20th, the Japan Foundation, Toronto will participate in Open Streets TO, the city’s largest free recreation program, unlike any other in Toronto or Canada. Come visit our booth join us at Bloor and Spadina for fun Japan-themed activities between 10am and 2pm.

Be sure to head over to ONTARIO’s 150th Birthday Activity Hub at the intersection of Yonge and Bloor for 1:30pm when Urara Minbu-kai will perform and teach in a very special Open Streets TO bon-odori dance presentation. It’s a great opportunity to put on your yukata and getta.

Also, our own JFT library and gallery will be open from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, so you can stop by to check out the exhibit, World Heritage in Japan, borrow some library books, or simply take a break from all the outdoor Open Streets TO activities.

This year at Open Streets TO we’re celebrating Ontario’s 150th birthday. How? Through dance! We’re hosting a special Activity Hub at the intersection of Yonge and Bloor that will celebrate the multiculturalism of our province.

We’ve planned back to back dance performances from 10am-2pm with mini lessons for the audience to participate in. Drop by on both August 20 & September 17th to join in the fun.
