　トロント・トロント近郊ではさまざまな年齢とレベルの学習者を対象に日本語教育が行われていますが、実際に教えている教師たちはほかの教育機関で行われていること、時には同じプログラム内であっても、自分以外の先生がしていることをあまりよく知らないのが現状だと思います。今、自分の目の前にいる学習者がどのような環境でどんなことを学んできたのかを知り、そして今後彼らが日本語学習を継続するにあたりどのような選択肢があるのかを知ることは、教師にとって大変意味のあることだと考えます。また、教師間のネットワークを活性化させることにより、さまざまなレベルでの意見交換が頻繁に行われることにもなるでしょう。CAJLEオンタリオ部会とジャパン・ファウンデーション・トロントでは、2009年12月より、日本語教育機関やプログラム間の“アーティキュレーション（連携、継続性）”のための素地を築くことを目指した集まりを企画してまいりました。
さて、第10回目となる今回はヨーク地域とハミルトン市で行われている日本語教育について三名の先生方にご紹介いただきます。また、勉強会の後は親交を深めるための夕食会も予定しております。夏の夕刻、皆様と日本語教育の現状について語り合いながらお互いをよく知る機会となればと思います。ぜひ足をお運びください。

Japanese is taught at several secondary schools in Toronto and its surrounding areas. Yet, it appears that teachers do not know much about the other institutions, courses or programmes. This lack of understanding can sometimes be found even within the same institution. We believe that it is very important and necessary for teachers to know what their current students have previously studied and in what type of environment that education took place. Similarly, it is important to be informed of the available learning opportunities for students who wish to continue studying Japanese.  We believe it is essential for teachers to build a strong and active network that enables them to communicate with one another. Since December 2009, the Ontario Chapter (CAJLE) and the Japan Foundation, Toronto have been co-organizing events to build a good foundation for the articulation of Japanese language education.
In the tenth event of the series, three teachers from York region and Hamilton will introduce their schools’ Japanese language programs. After the seminar, please join us as we move to a nearby restaurant, where we will continue our discussion about the current state of Japanese Language education over dinner.
