Between July 12th through July 15th the 4th Annual Shinsedai Cinema Festival will call Toronto’s historic Revue Cinema (400 Roncesvalles Avenue) home; and movie audiences will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the best of Japanese independent film. Plus there will be special guests from Japan and more than a few surprises on and off screen. Join us this summer to find out why The Toronto Star calls The Shinsedai Cinema Festival “one of the city’s youngest and most original movie events.” Tickets and passes go on sale June 21st at select retailers and through the festival website at www.shinsedai.ca.

Highlights include:
Opening Night Film
Yu Irie's rock & roll dramedy Ringing in Their Ears: The real-life story of Shinsei Kamattechan's move from indie stardom to major label commodity is interwoven with the fictional lives of some of their most unusual fans. ** Director Yu Irie will be in attendance!

Ghost Cat
Ghost Cat and the Mysterious Shamisen
Tohoku Relief Screening
In cooperation with Japan's National Film Center and the Japan Visual Media Translation Academy, we are proud to present Kiyohiko Ushihara's chilling 1938 horror film The Ghost Cat and the Mysterious Shamisen. All box off proceeds will go to our chosen Tohoku relief organization, the Niji-Iro 'Rainbow' Cinema Support Project.

Zany Comedy
We are proud to present Sakichi Sato's off-the-wall comedy Zero Man vs. the Half Virgin. A low level policeman wakes up one day with total amnesia and the ability to see numbers on peoples' foreheads. From the screenwriter of Ichi the Killer and Gozu, and the director of Tokyo Zombie. **Director Sakichi Sato will be in attendance!

Neo-noir Drama
The cinematic lone gunmen genre is updated by director Daisuke Miyazaki with his feature directorial debut End of the Night. A young man is raised by his adoptive father to be a lethal hitman, but what happens when this young killer is faced by the female survivor of one of his jobs and the emotions she ignites in him? **Director Daisuke Miyazaki will be in attendance!

Yubari Fanta Special
We are very proud to have worked in conjunction with Hokkaido's Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival to bring you From the Great White North: Yubari Fanta Special. A trio of short films, from quirky martial arts to a pro-wrestling documentary, that have launched in Yubari now make their way to Toronto! ** Mrs Akko and Her Husband director Kotaro Terauchi will be in attendance!

Closing Night Film
Masafumi Yamada's darkly funny and surreal Tentsuki. Noboru (Taku Manabe) finds himself running from the yakuza. He ends up hiding out in a mysterious area of Kyoto not listed on the city maps with a woman who may be an angel.
